So, as the title suggests, I only have 7 days left until I start my year abroad in Grenoble, France!! The one very vital piece of French vocab that springs to mind right now is "oh merde"! For those of you who aren't French speakers, don't panic...I'm not intending on writing this blog in French. Well, there maybe the occasional "chèvre chamoisée" and "l'escargot qui porte un moustache en guidon de vélo" thrown in there, but apart from being a great way of telling people back home how things are going and what I'm doing, I'm hoping that this blog will give some valuable advice to students going on their year abroad in the future and most importantly, so that I don't forget how to speak English!!
As some of you might already know, especially close friends and anyone who's marked any of my work, I have a tendency to waffle/ramble quite a lot when I write but I will try my best to make this as short and sweet as possible! Even now as I'm thinking of what to write next, I can hear Alice, Becci and probably my old P.E teacher laughing as they know it's almost physically impossible for me to be succinct about anything but I will try!!
Anyway, down to the serious stuff! How am I supposed to fit my entire life into a 20kg suitcase? Any suggestions?!? I'm pretty sure that my family are soon going to be taking bets on whether or not I'm still packing in the 2 hours before I leave for the airport... So, that's the bit I'm not looking forward to. However, I'm sooo excited about living in what some people have told me is one of the most beautiful cities in France. Not forgetting the opportunity to meet lots of lovely new friends, improve my French, German and Russian, go skiing (more like sliding down the Alps on my derrière!!) and have a frickin' awesome time!!! :)
